Bringing BLINK Closer to the Full Power of SQL
نویسندگان
چکیده
BLINK is a prototype of an in-memory based query processor that exploits heavily the underlying CPU infrastructure. It is very sensitive to the processor’s caches and instruction set. In this paper, we describe how to close two major functional gaps in BLINK, which arise from real-world workloads. The manipulation of the data maintained by BLINK require specialized data structures. Another aspect being discussed are NULLs and how to avoid the three-valued logic during query processing.

A Fast, Robust, Automatic Blink Detector
Introduction “Blink” is defined as closing and opening of the eyes in a small duration of time. In this study, we aimed to introduce a fast, robust, vision-based approach for blink detection. Materials and Methods This approach consists of two steps. In the first step, the subject’s face is localized every second and with the first blink, the system detects the eye’s location and creates an ope...

Have you ever been frustrated by how inadequate SGML databases are in terms of searching or querying your documents? With the current state of the art, you will easily be able to search for a word, phrase, or keywords in the whole document. Some systems let you perform approximate searches or regular expression searches. Even fewer systems let you search for keywords or phrases in certain SGML ...
متن کاملExperimental Study on the Effect of monitor height on Eye Indices Influencing Eye Discomfort among VDT Workers
Introduction: Nowadays, excessive computer use in the workplace has raised concerns about the health status of VDT workers, particularly complaints about eye discomforts. Due to the importance of the eyelids and eye closure parameters on eye health during computer works and the direct effect of monitor height on these parameters, this study was aimed to examine the effect of different monitor h...
متن کاملA closer look at rock physics models and their assisted interpretation in seismic exploration
Subsurface rocks and their fluid content along with their architecture affect reflected seismic waves through variations in their travel time, reflection amplitude, and phase within the field of exploration seismology. The combined effects of these factors make subsurface interpretation by using reflection waves very difficult. Therefore, assistance from other subsurface disciplines is needed i...
متن کاملBusiness Analytics in (a) Blink
The Blink project’s ambitious goal is to answer all Business Intelligence (BI) queries in mere seconds, regardless of the database size, with an extremely low total cost of ownership. Blink is a new DBMS aimed primarily at read-mostly BI query processing that exploits scale-out of commodity multi-core processors and cheap DRAM to retain a (copy of a) data mart completely in main memory. Additio...
